BBBS Joins Moncus Park's Adopt a Garden Initiative

On July 30, 2025, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana celebrated the opening of the BBBS Iris Garden at Moncus Park, located along the shores of Lake Reaux.

As part of Moncus Park's Adopt a Garden initiative, BBBS has committed to helping care for this beautiful space filled with native Louisiana irises. More than just a garden, it serves as a place where Bigs and Littles can spend time together, volunteer side by side, and learn about the importance of stewardship and community involvement.

The BBBS Iris Garden reflects many of the values at the heart of mentorship. Growth takes time. Strong roots matter. And meaningful relationships flourish when they are nurtured with care and consistency.

Throughout the year, Bigs and Littles will have opportunities to help maintain the garden while creating memories together in one of Acadiana's most treasured community spaces.

The next time you're visiting Moncus Park, take a stroll around Lake Reaux and stop by the BBBS Iris Garden. It's a small reminder of the powerful impact mentorship can have when young people are given the opportunity to grow, connect, and thrive.
