Building Confidence Through Connection: Trevor & Rama's Story

When Trevor joined the STEM Mentoring Program nearly two years ago, his mom hoped it would be an opportunity for him to explore his interests while connecting with a positive role model. What she didn't know at the time was just how meaningful that connection would become.

Soon after joining the program, Trevor was matched with Rama, a mentor whose enthusiasm, curiosity, and sense of humor made an immediate impact. Since then, the two have met each month at CGI, participating in hands-on STEM activities and mentoring experiences alongside other employees and students.

From the beginning, it was clear they were a great match.

Both Trevor and Rama are outgoing, energetic, and always ready to have a little fun. Whether they're tackling a technology challenge, building something new, or simply catching up between activities, their time together is filled with conversation, laughter, and plenty of shared jokes.

While a love of science and technology first brought them together, it's the relationship they've built that has made the biggest difference.

Rama brings encouragement, guidance, and a genuine interest in Trevor's growth. He challenges him to stay curious, explore new ideas, and approach problems with confidence. Trevor, in turn, brings creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn that makes every session rewarding for them both.

Over time, what began as a mentoring match has grown into a meaningful friendship built on trust, respect, and shared experiences.

Trevor's mom has seen the impact firsthand. She says he eagerly looks forward to each monthly session and often comes home excited to share what he learned and the experiences he had with Rama and the group. The program has become something he genuinely values, and he's already looking forward to continuing next year.
