Volunteer to be a "big"
Qualities of a “Big”
There is no magical formula for being a Big Brother or Big Sister. The only thing that you are required to be is yourself. We are looking for sincere and caring adults who want to be that extra support needed by some children in our community. You definitely do not have to be perfect to be a Big; you just have to have the desire to have fun and help a child!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana is looking for people who want to see children succeed in our community. We are looking for volunteers who can meet at least once or twice a month with a child---NOT one or two days or weekends, but just the time needed to have a conversation or a game in the park. We are not looking for someone to spend money on a child or become an additional parent. Mentors are people who, along with parents, support, counsel and serve as positive examples. Mentors are good listeners, people who care, and most importantly, people who want to be a friend.
